Hi Gary, I’ve been following your posts of FB for over a year now and have made trips to the Big Island but could never sync my schedule to be there during one of your workshops. I have a question about this image. I’ve never been able to get this close to the lava in the volcano. Did you have to hire a guide to get this close? If so, could you please recommend one?
Thanks, Derrick. I’m afraid that I don’t know any Big Island guides well enough to recommend one. I actually took this image from the Jagger Museum vista point. I was fortunate to have my 150-600 lens there on a day when the lava lake was at the top. I’ve been coming here for years and this is the first time I’ve seen it like that.
