This “accident” occurred in the days before I obsessively monitored the phase and location of the moon on every trip. I rose to photograph sunrise elsewhere and this 3 percent crescent moon waiting for me. I walked across the highway and set up my tripod on the east shoulder, then hurried off to my (far more forgettable) sunrise location.
