On a chilly, moonless fall evening, three friends and I waited for the sky to darken. We were soon rewarded with ceiling decorated with an unprecedented display of sparkling jewels. My friends’ objective was to light paint a bristlecone against this celestial backdrop; since I don’t use artificial light in my photography, I waited for them to extinguish their lights before starting my twenty-two minute exposure.
